Muka Design Lab is an award winning product design studio that specializes in create furniture, lighting and consumer product design with character.
We believe in “slow design” and work with talented local artisans and craftsmen to design everyday objects people love. From sustainable furniture to industrial design concepts, every great design begins with a story that gives life to each piece.
Our work has proudly been featured in Architectural Design, Fast Company, Archi Expo, de zeen, El Pais and awarded at international design expos from Milan to Los Angeles.
We take everyday products and give them personality from concept to reality.
In 2019 we created a furniture publisher called Abana Bilbao, where we exclusively design, manufacture and sell products with an Atlantic and Nordic identity online, made with local artisans and materials.
Slow Design distinguishes products from other mass-produced products by highlighting the use of local materials.
In addition, it strengthens the local economy as it works with local artisans and workshops, thus reverting to the local economy. It is a different proposal from today’s consumer society. Providing identity and a differentiated, personal, more thoughtful, durable and sustainable style. It is not about discarding new manufacturing techniques, but about rescuing forgotten techniques, disused materials, etc. It is a look back to walk forward. In the current world market, the difference is locally, it is a path that shares culture, through manufacturing methods, materials and forms.
